Don't we all love that insider feel? That's why this week, we're going to briefly go over one of our best products: The Personalized Pocket Watch.
Personalized Pocket Watch: THE MOVEMENT
Naturally, in our ever-connected hi-tech world, we often ask, "when do we recharge it?"
Well, never fear. This is no Apple Watch. This pocket watch is a mechanical. Now, I can see you asking, "what does that mean?" It's a little complicated, but we'll break it down for you.
A mechanical watch is run by a spring, which looks like this:
It looks a little like a curly strand of hair, but I assure you, we build these to last. This spring in the pocket watch has to wound every once in a while, and this action transmits energy to power the balance wheel( which is a weighted wheel that basically moves back in forth periodically).
Next, a small device called an escapement releases the watch's wheels to move forward in tune with the balance wheel. This movement, in turn, moves the pocket watch's hands. And that, my friends, is where that distinctive "ticking" sound that pocket watches make comes from.
In short, pocket watches are the evolution of the 15th century spring clocks.
Here at Omichronous, we continue the tradition by crafting all of pocket watches out of stainless steel. We also do custom orders for those special occasions. Custom orders include laser engraved photos, messages, or logos.
